چکیده

We study finite automata running over infinite binary trees. A run of such an automaton is usually said to be accepting if all its branches are accepting. In this article, we relax the notion of accepting run by allowing a certain quantity of rejecting branches. More precisely we study the following criteria for a run to be accepting: (i) it contains at most finitely (resp. countably) many rejecting branches; (ii) it contains infinitely (resp. uncountably) many accepting branches; (iii) the set of accepting branches is topologically “big”. In all situations we provide a simple acceptance game that later permits to prove that the languages accepted by automata with cardinality constraints are always ω-regular. In the case (ii) where one counts accepting branches it leads to new proofs (without appealing to logic) of an old result of Beauquier and Niwiński.

The Complexity of Learning Branches andStrategies from

We study the problems of eeciently learning innnite branches for nite state trees and winninig strategies for closed nite-state games using membership, and branch or strategy queries, respectively. We show that generally no eecient branch learning algorithm exists but we provide such algorithms for several natural cases, in particular for deadend free nite-state trees, the class of trees such t...

Branches in random recursive k-ary trees

In this paper, using generalized {polya} urn models we find the expected value of the size of a branch in recursive $k$-ary trees. We also find the expectation of the number of nodes of a given outdegree in a branch of such trees.

The Complexity of Learning Branches and Strategies from Queries

The problems of learning strategies for closed innnite games (as a model for learning process controllers) and of learning innnite branches of computable trees have been introduced in inductive inference. We study the complexity of these problems in a query learning model for closed games and trees represented by deterministic nite automata. We show that already for nite-state trees, which are ...

Rendering Realistic Trees and Forests in Real Time

Real-Time rendering of realistic trees on common graphics hardware represents a big challenge due to their inherent geometric complexity. In most cases, trees are composed of hundreds of thousands of leaves and branches with complex lighting interrelations. We present novel techniques to render and animate photorealistic trees in real-time. The described techniques are easily implemented with c...

Counting the number of spanning trees of graphs

A spanning tree of graph G is a spanning subgraph of G that is a tree. In this paper, we focus our attention on (n,m) graphs, where m = n, n + 1, n + 2, n+3 and n + 4. We also determine some coefficients of the Laplacian characteristic polynomial of fullerene graphs.
